ABOUT ME

Helping businesses with websites, graphic design and print that look great, build trust and stand the test of time.

Hi, I'm Matt

I'm the founder of Macast Media, a freelance web and graphic designer based in Dudley, West Midlands

I help businesses across the UK create websites, branding and print materials that look great and deliver real value.

Good design should be clear, easy to use and built around your business, not filled with jargon or unnecessary complexity.

Whether you’re launching something new or refreshing an established business, I work closely with you to create something that feels right and works for the people you want to reach.

MY STORY

2000s
Early Passion

My passion for design and technology started long before Macast Media.

As a child, I was fascinated by computers and always knew I wanted to work in tech. Even in primary school, I loved creating posters and visual projects, and I was usually the one designing presentation materials for class.

I also ran a small front-porch shop called Matt’s Mart, selling sweets and small treats to friends while making posters to advertise the latest deals and offers. Looking back, it was probably my first taste of branding and marketing.

Even then, I enjoyed taking ideas and turning them into something real and people could actually use and connect with.

That same way of thinking still shapes how I work today.

College

Once I reached secondary school and had the chance to choose specialist subjects, computing was an easy choice.

I carried that through to college, where I studied computing, software development, digital graphics and web production. This gave me a much stronger understanding of both the technical and creative sides of digital work.

During that time, I gained hands-on experience in programming, web development, multimedia, networking, databases and digital design.

Whether building websites, designing graphics or developing software, I enjoyed creating things that were useful, practical and genuinely helped people.

University

I continued my studies at the University of Wolverhampton, graduating with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Computing Digital Media Development.

University helped me look beyond development alone and deeper into something that still influences my work today: user experience and human behaviour.

My final research project explored dual-mode user interfaces using both 2D and 3D environments in web applications. That work was later featured at the INTERACT 2017 conference in Mumbai, where I was the lead author on a published research paper.

That experience reinforced something I still believe today: good design isn’t just about how something looks, it’s about how people experience it.

Working in Industry

After university, I moved into the professional world, joining a large construction and PPE supplier, where I spent more than seven years working across digital marketing, e-commerce and website management.

I started in a junior marketing role and progressed to Marketing Manager, before later moving into the role of E-Commerce & Website Manager. During that time, I led major digital projects and played a key role in the company’s online growth.

My work included redesigning and managing websites, creating printed catalogues, building customer portals, improving conversion rates, managing digital marketing activity and leading large platform projects.

Working in industry taught me an important lesson: businesses don’t just need attractive websites, they need digital tools that support sales, improve customer experience and help the business grow.

That real-world commercial experience shapes how I work with every client today.

Freelance Launch

Although I enjoyed my corporate career, I always knew I wanted to build something of my own.

In January 2026, I launched Macast Media, bringing together years of experience in design, development, marketing, branding and business strategy.

Today, I work with startups, individuals and small-to-medium businesses across the UK, helping them create websites, branding and print materials that look great, build trust and stand the test of time.

What matters most to me is simple: I want clients to feel supported.

No jargon. No fluff. No being passed between departments. Just honest advice, quality work and long-term support from someone who understands how much your business matters.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Outside of work, creativity and curiosity play a big part in who I am.

Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I play multiple instruments including guitar, bass, drums and piano. I’m also a lifelong fan of The Beatles, with a love for rock, blues and classic albums that have shaped my creative side over the years.

I’m also interested in psychology, mindfulness and mental wellbeing. Regular meditation helps me stay calm, focused and grounded, while my interest in human behaviour continues to influence how I design. Understanding how people think helps me create websites that feel intuitive and easy to trust.

I also enjoy photography and have a long standing love of Minis and car culture, enjoying many meet ups and events over the years.
