Website Design

Bespoke websites for small businesses, designed and built by a freelance web designer based in Dudley. Projects start from £650.

Whether you need your first business website or have outgrown your current one, I’ll help you create a site that explains what you do, reflects your business and makes it easy for customers to get in touch. I work with businesses across the West Midlands and throughout the UK.

Is your website helping people choose your business?

Potential customers may visit your website before they call, email or visit you. They need to understand what you offer, whether you’re right for them and what to do next.

You don’t have a website yet

Give customers a professional place to learn about your business and contact you.

Your current website no longer fits

If your services, branding or business have changed, your website may no longer show people what you can offer them today.

Visitors aren’t getting in touch

A clear explanation of your services, straightforward navigation and visible contact options can make it easier for visitors to enquire.

You need help after launch

Websites need updates, backups and maintenance. If you’d like me to take care of that work, ongoing support is available.

Small Business Website Design Built Around Your Goals

I design and build websites for small businesses in Dudley and beyond. We’ll start with what your customers need to know, then plan a site that presents your services clearly and gives people an easy way to take the next step.

Designed for your business

Your website will reflect your brand, services and goals. We’ll decide what pages and features it needs based on the job you want it to do.

Made to work across devices

Your site will be designed for visitors using mobiles, tablets and desktop computers.

Clear and easy to use

Thoughtful page structure and navigation help visitors find the information they need and get in touch.

Support when you need it

Once your site is live, I can continue looking after its technical upkeep through an optional support plan.

Websites for Businesses at Different Stages

Sole traders and startups

A focused website can introduce your business, explain what you offer and give people a clear way to contact you.

Established small businesses

If your current site feels dated or no longer reflects your work, I can help you plan and build a website that better represents your business today.

Growing businesses

For businesses that need more pages or functionality, we can discuss the requirements and build a site around them.

Work Directly with the Person Building Your Website

I’m Matt, a freelance web designer based in Dudley. I’ll work with you from the initial conversation through planning, design, development and launch.

You can give feedback directly to the person doing the work, and you’ll receive a fixed quote once we’ve agreed what your project needs.

I apply software updates and check the site afterwards to make sure it continues working as expected.

Your website is backed up to the cloud daily, with up to six months of rolling restore points available.

Performance

I review the technical performance of your site and make reasonable improvements as part of its ongoing maintenance.

Websites Designed with People and the Planet in Mind

I aim to make websites clear, usable and easier to navigate for as many people as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about the cost, timescale or what happens after launch? These answers explain how I work and what to expect from your website project.

My website design and build projects start from £650. The final price depends on the number of pages, features and other requirements of your project. After we discuss what you need, I’ll provide a fixed quote before work begins, so you’ll know the design and build cost upfront.

Hosting and domain registration are separate and are arranged by you. I can work with most hosting providers and recommend a UK provider if you need help choosing one. As a guide, hosting is typically around £9–£23 per month and a domain around £7–£12 per year, although prices depend on the provider and package. Some hosting packages include a domain.

You don’t need to buy hosting before we start. I’ll explain what you need before launch; you can arrange it once you’ve signed off the finished website, or sooner if you prefer.

I split the cost into milestones, with each stage invoiced separately. We’ll agree the payment schedule before work starts, and you’ll review and approve each stage before I move on to the next. Work begins once the first agreed payment has been made.

You’ll need to tell me about your business, services and customers, and share any photos or images you’d like to use. Your text doesn’t need to be ready to publish. I can help organise and refine it so it reads clearly on your website.

If you don’t have suitable text or images yet, let me know when we discuss the project and we can work out what’s needed.

Yes. I’ll share the website with you at each agreed milestone so you can review it and request changes as we go. Changes within the agreed project scope are part of that process. If you’d like to add substantial new work or features beyond the original plan, I’ll discuss the cost with you before doing that work.

Once your website is live, you can manage it yourself or choose my optional Support Plan. If you choose the plan, I’ll look after technical maintenance, including software updates, backups and security monitoring. If you’d rather manage the site yourself, I can hand it over to you.

I don’t sell hosting or domain names directly, but I can help you choose a provider and get both set up.

Your domain name is your website address, such as www.yourbusiness.co.uk. Web hosting is the service that makes your website available online. You’ll arrange these in your own name, so you keep control of your domain and hosting account.

Your project may need to pause if I’m waiting for content, information or feedback from you. This can move the expected launch date.

If the project is inactive for an extended period, I may need to reschedule the remaining work around other bookings. I’ll let you know if that becomes necessary and agree the next steps with you.

A Support Plan is optional ongoing care for your website after launch. It includes software updates, backups, security monitoring, performance checks and general technical maintenance. It’s for businesses that would prefer me to handle that work rather than manage it themselves.

No. The Support Plan is optional, and you can manage your website yourself after launch. Your website will still need regular updates, backups and security checks, so the plan is available if you’d prefer me to handle that technical maintenance for you.

Yes, you can cancel your Support Plan at any time. I’ll make sure you have the access and information needed to manage your website. Once the plan ends, you’ll be responsible for its updates, security monitoring, backups and performance maintenance.

If your website is on a Support Plan, let me know and I’ll investigate the issue. I’ll fix it where possible or restore a backup if needed. This work is included in your Support Plan at no extra cost.
